The Game That Started It All

Word Tennis was born from a simple funny scenario:

Friend 1 - What shall we eat today?

Friend 2 - Lets have wings!

Friend 1 - Birds

Friend 2 - Feathers

Friend 1 - Ah you got me. You know what, we should make this into a game.

Friend 2 - Pretty basic, how can you gamify it and make it engaging.

Friend 1 - Leave it with me.

What if a word game could feel like a real rally? Fast, instinctive, and impossible to put down. No boards. No tiles. No waiting. Just two to six players, a word, and the pressure to fire something back — instantly.

The result? A game that's equal parts brain workout and belly laugh. Whether you're playing with friends, family, or anyone brave enough to step up, Word Tennis turns every conversation into a match.

Meet the Creators

Word Tennis was created by Divine Thought Industries — a lover of language, wordplay, and the kind of games that bring people together. We wanted to create something that was easy to pick up but impossible to master; a game that rewards quick thinking and rewards even quicker wit.

Released under a CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 licence, Word Tennis reflects oue belief that great ideas should be shared — and that the best games are the ones that belong to everyone who plays them.

What Makes Word Tennis Different?

Most word games ask you to sit, think, and plan. Word Tennis asks you to react. There's no turn timer ticking on a screen — the pressure comes from your opponent, right across the table (or the room, or the garden) counting down your 5,7 or 10 seconds. It's raw, real, and ridiculously fun.

  • No equipment needed — just your brain and your voice
  • Lightning-fast gameplay — rallies happen in real time
  • Endlessly replayable — no two games are ever the same
  • For everyone — ages, backgrounds, and vocabulary levels welcome

Our Mission

Word Tennis exists to prove that the best games don't need batteries, Wi-Fi, or a rulebook the size of a novel. We're on a mission to bring people together through the power of words — one rally at a time.

We want word tennis at all brunches, house parties, schools, retirement / care homes and work events.

So warm up your vocabulary, find a worthy opponent, and get ready to play. The court is yours.
